ABOUT US

Jim Halvorson

The purchase of the property in Queen Cove in 1993 from Canfor provided Jim with both a base for exploring a coastline he loves and the opportunity to tap the sustainable development potential of their property. Sue and Jim are also building an organic farm in Duncan. Having traveled and worked overseas extensively, he now feels most fortunate to be able to stay home with his wife and three young children while exploring and expanding horizons on Vancouver Island.

Sue McKitrick

In her past life, Sue earned a BA and MBA and spent some time working or volunteering in the UK, and India, and Central America. In 1996, fueled by a growing desire to get out of the office, Sue began the cycling trip of her lifetime which took her through India, Nepal, Thailand, and Hong Kong and subsequently landed her jobs as a cycling and wine tour guide in France. With three young children, bike trips are significantly shorter, but they allow her to slow down her pace, similar to the effect the cabin has when Sue, Jim and the kids spend hours on the beach as the tide marks its time.  A strong believer in the positive effects of nature and the outdoors, Sue hopes that every Queen Cove guest leaves feeling renewed.
